Bring your brushes and paints to the comfortable and informal surroundings of Adrian’s 1894 Victorian home and gain new insights into the Renaissance masters and how they achieved their color magic!
Adrian offers each artist (beginners to professionals) six weeks of technical analysis along with real-time demonstrations vividly explaining the three essential stages of Renaissance oil painting. Beginning with a classic still life set up, each artist will complete a basic drawing and then move, when satisfied, to a grey toned underpainting in oil. After finishing this “grisaille”, many transparent and colorful oil glazes are added.
Adrian will guide your progress, taking into account each artist’s personal background and individual taste.
Materials list to be supplied by the student:
1 tube of black oil paint, 1 tube of white oil paint (I recommend carbon black and flake white)
4 synthetic hair paint brushes - round sizes 2, 4, and 6 and flat size 8. (Lowe-Cornell, Princeton or Robert Simmons are all good, inexpensive brushes)
Pencils and erasers
Mineral spirits or turpentine
Oil painting medium of your choice (I use Winsor & Newton Liquin Original)
